We Will Never Run Out

Another Project (NOT a puzzle) LOL
A couple of months after we had
moved into our house in Tri City, Jenna and I were walking around Millsite Park
when we met a man named Chris. It was
the one and only time our paths had crossed.
I do not know his last name. He
made custom canes. It was a unique thing
personalizing such an ordinary thing.
After our encounter I had collected a bunch and words and pictures that
I could have ready should our paths cross again. They never did. Thus I made my own walking stick about a year and a half ago. (see here)
This year the quarantine has given me
an opportunity to make a walking stick for Roland. I kept his artwork (greeting cards and
assignments) in color. It does not have
the results of my own and it isn’t really finished. I still have several layers of coating to
finish it off.
I remember having done paper mache
projects in school. There was one time
we were required to cover our balloon in several layers in order to harden it. That is what adding layers of coating remind
me of. I did not take step by step
photos of his cane the way I did my own walking stick. It’s still not finished but I took three
pictures of the cane and tried to piece them together. Didn’t work out too well
Here
are some of the details before I printed them and glued them to the wood.
I
like appearance of my walking stick better.

3 Quotes From the Land of Stories
As
I have already mentioned in an earlier post I am currently reading “The Land of
Stories’ by Chris Colfer. I have now
come across three quotes that seem to relate to our society today. This
first quote makes me think of the many politicians who may have been loved and
admired at one time and perhaps may be controlled by certain citizens but
obviously aren’t favored ALL citizens.
“People only love you as long as
they’re getting something out of you,but the minute you say something they
don’t want to hear or do something they don’t want to see, all the admiration
drains from their hearts.” – Ezmia to Rumple, Land of Stories Vol. 2 pg 156,
Chris Colfer
“Now that the Enchantess is back,
it’s as if the world has stopped. Everyone stays indoors, too afraid to
come outside .. .” Froggy to twins, Land
of Stories Vol. 2 pg 160, Chris Colfer
“It’s a sign of the times I’m
afraid. It’s like this in all the
villages in all the kingdoms. No one leaves their home unless it’s
absolutely necessary.” Froggy to twins, Land of Stories Vol. 2 pg 165,
Chris Colfer
Though the words in the book were not bolded I
post it that way for emphasis.

Pajamas and Neck Ties
When we were living in Utah and Roland
was working at an office outside the home, he would dress up in long sleeved
button up shirt and tie.
One
time he had gone in on a Friday which was dress down day. He had another appointment requiring his
suit, though he did leave his suit coat and tie in the car while he was at
work. Some of the staff teased him for
not dressing down. Our brother-in-law
(who also worked for the same company) defended Roland by saying, “He is
dressed down. Look – no tie.”
After Roland started working from
home, he would still dress up minus the tie.
Occasionally he would wear a polo shirt – never a tie. I always thought that if I was working on
line, I would be doing so in my pajamas.
Or at least pajama bottoms and a tee shirt. Be comfortable.
I noticed that last week he wore two
different tee shirts – the fact that he wore it a few days in a row is so out
of character. I think this stay-at-home
order must be affecting him. I don’t
know why. He rarely ever goes out.
