Decoration Pics

We had put our decorations up a couple of weeks ago.  It took us three days, I think, as we had a small electrical problem.  Just before we finished, the guy across the street brought out his lights and stapled them to his house and wrapped around the small trees in front.  I think he was done within 30 minutes.  His lights were on the night he decorated.  I havent seen them on since then.

Small electrical problem.  Taking apart.  Trying to find problem.  And replacing one switch with another which was nice.

The black indicates where the back porch light was.

But as we no longer have a back porch, the switch didnt work anything.  I like it not being there as I was always pressing it and of course nothing happened

Jenna and I decided that we wanted the tree in the back room this year.  This is the tree in front of one window:

And where our stockings hang in the other.

Here is our house decorated

Our tree from our porch

We have put these candy canes up almost every year each year in the tree where they tend to get lost.  This year we hung them on the side of our porch.

LtWobo 14 & 15

On Sunday Jenna took Bonnie for a walk and made a note of all the houses she wanted to go caroling to.  We started out Monday morning going to Dollar General and made a purchase of 12 candy filled candy canes which we would leave with each household.

Before we left the house Jenna took this picture:

We both enjoy singing – she is just better at it.  I probably sound like a moose in heat. There was no one home at the first house we went to but found friends at the next two and left our treats.  The third house we’d gone to was my favorite.  For the girl who answered the door is quite shy and I have never seen her smile, but she did yesterday.

We continued on our way stopping at various houses to sing and stopped when the door would open and leave our little treat.  Jenna had such a glorious time.  It was fun.

Last night we watched the “Light the World” sing and serve (here) and that was nice.

Although Jenna can participate with today’s suggestion

I posted the following onto my facebook wall:

I would LOVE to visit my parents. I would call them daily if I could. I think about them often. What a tremendous blessing they have been in the lives of all their children even the ones they did not give birth to (Sunny, Roland, Bill, Joh) I LOVE my mom and dad and miss them so much! I look forward to being with them again (so someday when I pass, just know that I am happy because I will get to see my mom and dad again)

Different Variations of Frightful

"Oh, the weather outside is frightful . . . “

My sister recently posted this picture on her facebook page.

My comment was that even though we live further up north than she does, the residents in Douglas County are more inclined to be like the first picture than the second.

I DON’T miss snow.  I don’t miss driving in it.  I don’t miss waiting in the cold snowbanks and blizzards.  I don’t miss the horrible traffic.  I don’t miss this:

The weather was quite beautiful on Christmas morning

and continued into the next day.  Jenna put on her Elf costume and we went to Millsite park ao she could pass out candy canes.

I had to take another picture after we returned home so that the socks could be seen (as they were hidden by the shoes)

Friday’s weather was “stay in your pajamas and stay inside and read a book” type weather.  Nothing as frightful as the first four pictures of snow.  The skies were overcast and everything was wet by rain.

The last two mornings have given us lingering fog which has cleared about 10:30 or so. It rained quite a bit yesterday.

Light Yellow

When Jenna was younger, we
would sometimes watch shows on demand.
I cannot remember the name of the program we
watched geared toward young children on development.

I thought it was called "Baby Genius" but
am unable to find a series under that name.
There are only two episodes I remember more
detail than others.  One was a special during
the Christmas holidays on how candy canes
are made.

Another I remember teaching colors.  I remember
yellow specifically.  An egg was cracked open.
The yolk was identified as "yellow".  And then the
egg was whisked, and milk was added to it for
"light yellow"

I think the yolk appears to be more orange than yellow.

I haven't thought about that show for years until
the last two times I have been beating the eggs
I've made for breakfast.  I watch the yolk mixed
with the white and add milk and watch as the
mixture lightens.

It seems like a weird memory.  But it's the a
memory that makes me smile when I think about
the early seeds that were planted in Jenna's
brain development.
