Whenever I hear sounds in
the dark, the noise seems to be
much closer than it really is.
I remember hearing cows mooing in
the morning at girl’s camp when I
was a leader. The noise in the
dark made it seem as though
the cows were right outside our tent.
But I never saw a cow anywhere in
the vicinity. Weird.
The house to the east has been on the
selling market for close to a year. There
have recently been people sprucing up the
outside. The house behind us has been
demolished. The owner of the one west of
us will be moving out tomorrow. Another
couple moving in. They will be the fifth set of
people living in the house since we
moved here – which will be eleven
years come April.
The sounds we here seem to come
from our back yard which is closer than
the cause of the sounds.
Fascinating.
