New Years Day

Image
I remember taking down the tree on New Year’s Day each year.   It became tradition I would suppose for many families.   And gosh, darn, I will definitely miss the lights and decorations that had popped up in so many yards even before Thanksgiving.   The Myrtle Creek – Tri City area is always so dark.   It is nice to have the Christmas lights to remove some of the darkness.           On New Year’s Day this year I read a couple of thoughts which helped ease the pain of this tradition that I have come to hate.   David Butler has a facebook page in which he shares uplifting thoughts.   On New Year’s Day he compared taking down the tree to the first Christmas – perhaps a week after the fact – when Joseph and Mary had to leave the manger and move on.   They could not stay where they were nor could they take the manger with them.   And why would they want to? ...

My Ignorant Friends

There are so many creative posts to facebook lately, and just as many that are hurtful such as warnings to NOT buy products from the Chinese.   Really?   Someone has the odyssey to promote bigotry during these trying times.   I would think the citizens of China have even less to say about their government than do US citizens.   Though there are Trump supporters and followers many Americans are just as offended by his lack of leadership skills or lack of compassion as perhaps citizens of other countries are ashamed.   In China it is against the law to cross the government whereas in the USA citizens have the right to voice their opinions and even criticize the government without being arrested.   This pandemic is not the fault of the Chinese citizens.   They are victims just as much as anybody.   They did not choose to become guinea pigs of some governmental experience anymore than soldiers...

March Skies

Monday morning the sky was white as though the fog had been lifted up and covered any trace of blue I was surprised at how light was the view for I could see to drive at 6:15 in the morning.   Sometimes it is still too dark at 7:00 and so I was surprised. I did get a brief glimpse of the sun as it tried to peak through the whiteness – shining orange beams in the east but only temporarily. It remained white and light for about 12 hours. At 6:15 p.m. the sky had started to darken. On Tuesday the skies were blue and only one hill had clouded fog surrounding. By noon the sun was shining. Yesterday the skies were white again. Right now it is just after 6:00 am.   The sky appears to be blue.  The earth is  surrounded  by fog. It is too dark for me to see. What gives?

Decorating Pics

Image
As mentioned in the last post, the skies darkened before we were through: Roland had purchased "candles" to place in our windows.   They will turn off after six hours Jenna fell twice.  I don't know why she finds that amusing Cell phone does not have the same sophistocation as does some of the cameras I have owned I thought the reflection of the tree in our window looks cool as it appears the tree is really inside of the house. We stopped decorating not only because it was dark but The three adjoining cities will put on a light parade each year on the second Saturday in December.    I've taken several pictures in the past; this is the best I could do this year. This last one was taken yesterday when we put the balls on. I will have to get a picture of our finished product later on Next we have our non-traditional advent wreath which I thought we would decorate with Christmas festivities.  Jen...

Once Upon a Time spoilers and metaphors

Image
For those who enjoy watching the abc series "Once Upon a Time" and have not yet seen season seven, you may want to return to this post later as I am about to reveal many spoilers. Thus far season 7 is actually my favorite.   I must admit that I did quite a bit of skipping around with seasons 3-6, reading the synopsis of each episode.   Season 7 has peaked my curiosity.   I also like the story of Cinderella better than the entire Snow White ordeal.   I also like looking at fairytales from other perspectives.             Season Seven starts out with Henry saying good-bye to Regina.   He tosses a magic bean onto the ground and drives his motorcycle through the portal into the enchanted forest. Next thing we see, Henry is a grown man.   He has his adventures and chooses to live in the enchanted forest - for at least a decade, I assume.   Another cur...
