Where Can I Turn for Peace?

We have been trying to find a dog sitter to care for Bonnie at the end of this month.   Roland has been wanting to see the boys and had planned to do so by himself but Jai (aka Jenna) has spring break coming up and so thought we could all go.   But that would only give us a week.   Perhaps it would be better for Roland to go by himself?          Taking Bonnie for walks lately has been quite bothersome on my part.   I do not have Jenna ’ s strength.   She ’ s broken from her leash/collar four times now – the last two were very hurtful.   I sliced my middle finger on my left hand when she tore out of her collar to bark at the dogs on the corner.   And then on Valentine ’ s Day my right thumb got damaged when she tore loose (this time in a harness) and chased a dog into somebody ’ s house.   Needless to say the tenant was NOT happy – and I don ’ t blame her.   ...

Finding a New Home for the Dogs

On December 24, 2014 my children decided to do white elephant gifts for what would be our last Christmas in Utah (only we hadn't planned for it to be our last Christmas together)   Jeanie recycled at least one gift that they had received, possibly both.                 They weren't wrapped, but left in black garbage bags, both huge.   One a bit bulkier than the other.   For some reason I was drawn to them - not knowing fully which to choose.   I settled on the flat one, figuring it was a painting of some sort.               Many people, when drawing white elephants, will allow a person to choose a wrapped gift or swipe an   unwrapped gift from somebody else.   I didn't know until later that Jenna had actually considered "stealing" the painting I had "unwrapped" but wanted the op...

Wheeler Farm

I grew up in the Midvale East 4th ward (Church boundary) and each year the members would drive to storm mountain for an annual bbq dinner and ward party.   There were always a variety of activities offered to each age group - though the teenagers (for the most part) would forego any planned activity and try their hand at hiking to Doughnut Falls - and often succeeding.          Before Kayla was born, the location had changed from Big Cottonwood Canyon to Wheeler Farm - which actually was a shorter drive and more family oriented, but not totally a big hit with the teenagers.   We hadn't taken into account that Wheeler Farm was a safer and more practical area overall.     I have seen this photo attached to two blogs; I don't  know who to give credit to for taking it. I think it's a great representation but I will remove the picture if the artist asks me to.    ...

ReMax and the Children's Miracle Network

On Saturday I went with Roland and Jenna to the big city of Roseburg as Roland wanted to get some more soil and plants to add to our yard and garden.     Jenna at Home Depot             As we were near Costco, I mentioned to Roland that we ought to get gas.   We also need milk and so picked up some additional items as well.   We also had an opportunity to allow Jenna a thrilling moment that we of course would never have planned for.             As we were walking toward the Costco entrance, Roland noticed a ReMax balloon out in the parking lot.   It appeared as though it was lifting off the ground and then back again.   Corey and I had actually saved our money for a balloon ride and were majorly disappointed with the results. ...
