Day 6: Lakeview and Olcott Beach

On our last full day we took two cars to the ”beach”.  I had purchased a pair of jelly shoes to wear in the sand.  I could have worn my sneakers and been okay.  Jenna wouldn’t have.  She definitely needed the flipflops we purchased.

I don’t know how long we were at the lake.  I think we spent just as much time on the grounds across from the lake.  It was a nice day to end our vacation.

Carrie said that (prior to Covid) that this area would be open each summer
as a fair run by volunteers; it was fortunate that there were some places open

funny how these viewers were open at the lake but not at Niagara Falls

Jenna had no idea that a large would be that large

First Day: Lockport

The first picture that I took as we made our to the locks

Behind the gate is the first lock which would  raise or lower level for each boat

Randy told us that the boats would line up and spend three days waiting for transfer

He said that is when the town started to build up as those transporting would have a three day wait

notice the height of the stairs.  I had to bend my knee with each step

the jackhammer crew that Randy kept on apologizing for.  They
are working on another set of stairs so they're not so steep

newest lock is on the left opposite of the red platform

I think this was a gift shop that was closed

Jenna liked the optical illusion of being a wall goat.

I took this from the railing of that bridge

This is the bridge from picture prior.  Ends at the church.

This was taken from the church end of the bridge

In addition to the locks we were introduced to downtown lockport and the high school near Randy's house.  Here are some more pictures that I took (out of many)

A Little More Nature and our 2016 Oregon Calendar

My sister has been posting landscape pics to facebook.  The rule is the landscape has to be a place where she's been but cannot be in the picture.  I posted these exciting pics of my yard in this post.  Here are a couple more:

Roland got rid of the bush

Roland chopped dead trees and I started a pile

This is in millsite.

I doubt I would make a calendar of my backyard photos as it was suggested.  But here are some that I had collected our first year here and made into a calendar as gifts to send to the family.  My daughter-in-law Jeanie had been upset with me because it wasn't a family calendar which would of included the boys, their wives, and babies.  No, it wasn't.  It was a calendar of Oregon.
