We Will Never Run Out

More Memes from facebook:

I am NOT one of these people.  I didn't even vote for him.
I think the leader of our country has a touch of dementia.

Canada and Mexico border on America.  America is full

Another Project (NOT a puzzle) LOL

A couple of months after we had moved into our house in Tri City, Jenna and I were walking around Millsite Park when we met a man named Chris.  It was the one and only time our paths had crossed.  I do not know his last name.  He made custom canes.  It was a unique thing personalizing such an ordinary thing.  After our encounter I had collected a bunch and words and pictures that I could have ready should our paths cross again.  They never did.  Thus I made my own walking stick about a year and a half ago. (see here

This year the quarantine has given me an opportunity to make a walking stick for Roland.  I kept his artwork (greeting cards and assignments) in color.  It does not have the results of my own and it isn’t really finished.  I still have several layers of coating to finish it off.

I remember having done paper mache projects in school.  There was one time we were required to cover our balloon in several layers in order to harden it.  That is what adding layers of coating remind me of.  I did not take step by step photos of his cane the way I did my own walking stick.  It’s still not finished but I took three pictures of the cane and tried to piece them together. Didn’t work out too well

Here are some of the details before I printed them and glued them to the wood.

I like appearance of my walking stick better.

3 Quotes From the Land of Stories

As I have already mentioned in an earlier post I am currently reading “The Land of Stories’ by Chris Colfer.  I have now come across three quotes that seem to relate to our society today.  This first quote makes me think of the many politicians who may have been loved and admired at one time and perhaps may be controlled by certain citizens but obviously aren’t favored ALL citizens.

“People only love you as long as they’re getting something out of you,but the minute you say something they don’t want to hear or do something they don’t want to see, all the admiration drains from their hearts.” – Ezmia to Rumple, Land of Stories Vol. 2 pg 156, Chris Colfer

“Now that the Enchantess is back, it’s as if the world has stopped.  Everyone stays indoors, too afraid to come outside .. .”  Froggy to twins, Land of Stories Vol. 2 pg 160, Chris Colfer

“It’s a sign of the times I’m afraid.  It’s like this in all the villages in all the kingdoms.  No one leaves their home unless it’s absolutely necessary.” Froggy to twins, Land of Stories Vol. 2 pg 165, Chris Colfer

Though the words in the book were not bolded I post it that way for emphasis.

Pajamas and Neck Ties

When we were living in Utah and Roland was working at an office outside the home, he would dress up in long sleeved button up shirt and tie.

One time he had gone in on a Friday which was dress down day.  He had another appointment requiring his suit, though he did leave his suit coat and tie in the car while he was at work.  Some of the staff teased him for not dressing down.  Our brother-in-law (who also worked for the same company) defended Roland by saying, “He is dressed down.  Look – no tie.”

After Roland started working from home, he would still dress up minus the tie.  Occasionally he would wear a polo shirt – never a tie.  I always thought that if I was working on line, I would be doing so in my pajamas.  Or at least pajama bottoms and a tee shirt.  Be comfortable.

I noticed that last week he wore two different tee shirts – the fact that he wore it a few days in a row is so out of character.  I think this stay-at-home order must be affecting him.  I don’t know why.  He rarely ever goes out.

Strange Night

It’s rare that Roland will go to bed before I do.  It was quite the opposite when we first married, but for some reason he feels impelled to stay up and watch TV even though we have the capability of recording his programs.

Sometimes I will hear him come in, but not always.  I am usually fast asleep before 10:00 although last night I was in bed playing on the kindle that Caroline had given me.  After he got in bed, I set the kindle aside.  I don’t even know what time it was.

Earlier this morning Roland had evidently hit the remote button which caused his legs to rise in the air.  He doesn’t like that setting, but could not find the remote to undo it.  So we get up.  1:30 a.m.  Before he found it, I offered to trade him sides as I knew where the remote for my side of the bed was. But he eventually found it.

Amazingly he was hot and asked if I could turn down the heat (or off as I don’t believe it had come on) and by that time I knew I would not be going back to sleep.  I grabbed the kindle and played on it for about an hour and a half and then returned to bed.

Just after I had settled myself in, I heard Jenna get up.  3:00 a.m.  That’s her usual wake-up time.  She’s not like most teenagers.  If the girl sleep past 6:00, she is sleeping in.  She has ALWAYS been an early riser!

Roland has programmed Jenna’s Echo to go off at 5:15 and will say, “Alexa, Stop” each morning and she does.  Only this morning he had to say it twice.  I tried to ignore the sounds and remain asleep.  I think I slept for another 30 minutes before I got up.

Will be reading today.  The second book of the “Land of Stories” series.

The last two or three chapters have felt surreal as the twins have been put in quarantine and after making it to the land of stories hear no sounds.  The world is too quiet.  I have experienced some of that myself.  Except instead of corona virus there are vines and thorns. Interesting read.

I also predict that I will be napping.  Meanwhile Jenna has made another headband.  She use large pink buttons.  She misses the yellow ones.

Her hair is getting quite long.

Rescue Mission Gone Awry

Two weeks ago Jenna made this mask and headband

I thought it clever that my little girl (well, maybe not so little) had thought to put buttons on her headband so that the elastic from the mask would be around the buttons and not so much pressure on her ears.

After our walk around the neighborhood yesterday, she discovered that her headband had fallen out of her pocket.  I told her we could go back and search for it – though we weren’t even certain where it had been lost.  She did not want to bother with retracing our footsteps yesterday, and so we went out in search for it today.  She spotted it on the road.  It had obviously been run over.  Several times perhaps.

How devastating.
